Details & Amenities
The space
Enter into a spacious great room. A wall of light from the floor-to-ceiling windows nourishes your spirit and cultivates the greenery of the built-in planters. A fully equipped kitchenette with a microwave, induction burner, toaster, and compact fridge awaits. A dining area with a four-top Italian wood dining table is ready for takeout and home-cooked meals. A dedicated workspace, cozy living area with Roku TV, and a sit-in bar top finish off the space. Browse the eclectic bookshelves and enjoy listening to a CD or two with Bose speakers. Open the windows and skylight to feel the mountain air or turn on the evaporative cooler to freshen things up in the early afternoon.
Alcoves off the great room guide you to two well-appointed bedrooms with queen-size beds and memory foam toppers. Each bedroom opens onto the full bathroom.
As this is an Earthship, it does not have central heat. There is a propane space heater in the main room, a wall heater in the main bedroom, and an electric space heater in the second bedroom to keep you comfortable. The main room’s temperature may be cooler than you are used to in the morning hours. It’s advisable to close the shades at night and leave them open during the day to take advantage of the passive solar design.
Access & Details
Our home and guest house sit high above Santa Fe on a ridgetop adjoining the Santa Fe National Forest. We are surrounded by juniper, piñon, cacti, and other native flora.
From our doorstep you can enjoy commanding views of the Santa Fe National Forest, the City of Santa Fe, the Jemez Mountains, and the plains and mountain ranges toward Albuquerque.
Our property is accessed by a steep, mountainous, unpaved road. While a standard car can certainly make it, a higher clearance vehicle will be a more comfortable ride.
Winter weather will require 4WD, snow traction devices, and winter driving experience to safely navigate our road.
We are 7.2 miles from the plaza, 2.2 miles from Harry’s Roadhouse, and 3.3 miles from I-25.
Other things to note
Our home is situated up high in the mountains and we have regular sightings of mule deer, gopher snakes, ravens, and the occasional black bear, bobcat, and mountain lion. We’ve done our best to ensure you’ll have no unwanted guests, but we do not use any chemicals that could harm humans or wildlife.
Due to extreme wildfire danger, we don’t allow any smoking or fires on the property.
We welcome all travelers. Love is love. All ages are welcome, but our open access hot tubs, pond, wildlife, cacti, and planters mean that the property is not particularly infant/child friendly.
Spa Spaces
A stone path from the guest house takes you to the shared spa/yoga area, which hosts a custom built-in hot tub with jets and a waterfall, private for your use whenever you’d like. A rock wall lines the spa, with commanding views of both the city of Santa Fe and the mountains of the Santa Fe National Forest. An antique Indian oxcart awaits as your daybed for luxurious relaxation, while yoga mats, aromatherapy, a 3/4-bath slate tile bathroom, and a stereo complete the space.
On the outdoor terrace above the spa is another shared sitting area with a bistro table. Don’t miss out on the exceptional sunsets over the Jemez Mountains, with the twinkling city lights below. A rooftop infinity tub is also available as a seasonal hot tub or cold plunge and is available dawn to dusk.
Behind the guest house is a shared 1000 sq. ft. partially fenced-in area where you can enjoy ridgetop outdoor dining with expansive views of Santa Fe.
